Commission approves Millard County project list for Community Impact Board submission

The Millard County Commission approved the county’s prioritized project list for submission to the Utah Community Impact Board (CIB). Jess Peterson of the R6 regional council presented seven projects from the county that will be placed on the CIB list; county staff emphasized that placement on the list does not guarantee funding.
Projects named for the county list include water, sewer, stormwater and recreation projects for Delta, Fillmore, Oak City and Leamington (project descriptions provided by the regional council). For example, Delta proposed a new well and a stormwater upgrade; Fillmore proposed a sewer lagoon and updated headworks; Oak City proposed recoating water tanks; Leamington sought water pumps and valves and also included a recreation project.
Peterson said CIB typically prioritizes critical infrastructure such as water and sewer before recreation, and that the county list is a required step to make projects eligible for CIB consideration. She noted many applicants do not ultimately apply and that listing a project is a low-commitment step to preserve eligibility; the hard submission deadline to CIB is May 1.
Commissioners asked about CIB’s available budget and were told the presenter did not have the current program budget figure; CIB’s next funding meeting was scheduled for June in Richfield. The commission moved, seconded and approved the list as presented.
