Staff said the household’s 2023 adjusted gross income was $69,400, monthly expenses about $4,040, and family size five. Commissioners voted to abate $598.83 and leave the remaining balance to the county billing agency for collection under a payment plan (no finance charges while payments continue).
For Harrison Bevin (ATV crash, no insurance), county staff said the ambulance fee was just over $2,600; the 2024 adjusted gross income was $47,477, monthly expenses about $2,555 and family size two. Commissioners approved a 25% write-off under the county’s abatement guideline (aligned with the county’s income-and-family-size chart) and directed billing staff to set a payment plan for any remaining balance.
Staff noted the county’s billing agency will accept small monthly payments and will pursue collection if no payments are made for six months. Commissioners emphasized they prefer applicants to provide hardship letters and complete documentation; staff said they would bring an updated 2025 guideline chart to the next meeting.
Actions on both abatements were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
