Sumner County Committee on Committees appoints Nathan Stone to Zoning Board; reappoints John Genung as alternate

Sumner County's Committee on Committees unanimously approved April 14 the appointment of Nathan Stone to the Zoning Board of Appeals for a five-year term and reappointed John Genung as an alternate for a one-year term during a brief meeting called to order at 5:00 p.m.

The appointments filled items on the committee's agenda after the group removed the Sumner County Library Board of Trustees item, citing a change in the number of open slots. Committee members discussed Nathan Stone's qualifications during the zoning appointment. Committee member 1 said he was “overly qualified,” adding he believed Stone would “do [the work] with flying colors.” Committee member 2 said he had also reviewed Stone's resume and was in favor of the appointment. The panel voted unanimously to approve the nomination for a five-year term to replace Malcolm Holt.

Committee members also voted to keep John Genung in place as an alternate for a one-year term; a motion to reappoint him passed with no opposition. The chairman reported he had not received mayoral recommendations for several other vacancies, and members said they were still awaiting a response on the Industrial Development Board; they expected to revisit those openings at the next meeting.

The committee approved the meeting agenda and the March 2025 minutes by unanimous voice votes and then adjourned. The county mayor was not present at the meeting.
