Geltz accepted the recognition and described his actions simply: “I just did what any other person I hope would do in a situation.”
The sheriff’s office said the award recognizes positive community interactions and quick action by private citizens. The court applauded Geltz; the sheriff said the office will use a plaque for future Outstanding Citizen Awards and may publish the recognition in local media.
