Residents urge temporary dog-park solutions while Sixteenth Street work continues

Several Wheatland residents urged the council to find temporary dog-park arrangements or safer access routes while construction on Sixteenth Street and associated drainage work restricts access near the existing dog park.

David Luther and another frequent dog-park user described the small ditch and construction activity near the dog park and said limited access through construction could close the park for months. A resident said the dog park is a daily social hub and asked the town for short-term fixes such as plywood covering a ditch, a temporary bridge, or temporary fencing and a gate at an alternate site.

Council members discussed possible temporary sites, including Lewis Park near the picnic area and an east-of-tennis-courts area formerly used for tractor pulls, and suggested using snow fencing, T-posts and temporary gates.
