Citizens urge caution on annexation and raise concerns about a trespass arrest, city video quality and neighborhood cleanup

Christy McElroy of Port St. Joe read a letter from Steven Webster addressed to the State Attorney’s office concerning a local trespass charge. In her reading she quoted: "They framed and falsely arrested a 62 year old lady simply because she speaks or not. It's unconscionable." McElroy said the letter had been sent April 10 and expressed frustration about the legal process and subpoenas related to the case.
Resident Lynn Peterson Lewis relayed a request from a neighbor to clean up the lot beside the CVS and said the meeting audio and video quality for livestream viewers is "really bad," a point other commenters and commissioners acknowledged as requiring technical fixes.
A neighborhood volunteer described a community cleanup and birthday celebration set for April 26 with a planned dumpster and supplies; commissioners discussed coordinating city support for roll-off containers and volunteers.
At the podium, a commenter who said she represents people with mobility concerns urged the commission to ensure the Washington project uses flooring suitable for children and those with joint issues when renovations proceed.
