Stonecrest planning staff holds public hearing on home-based personal-care office

City of Stonecrest Planning and Zoning held a special administrative permit public hearing on April 15, 2025, for case SA25013. The applicant, Hope Jackson of House of Hope personal home care, requested a Type 1 home-occupation permit to operate an administrative office from a residence listed in the application as "60 40 7 Idlewood Track." Zoning staff said Type 1 home occupations permit office use with no customer contact.

The hearing opened with zoning analyst Abicoon Abicoon and staff presentations that included maps showing the property’s future-land-use designation as a suburban neighborhood, that the parcel is within the Arabia Mountain Overlay District and has underlying RSM (small-lot residential mix) zoning, and a submitted floor plan for the proposed administrative office. Deputy Director Alice Steele, senior planner Ramon Iversley and planner Felicia Blair were listed as planning staff present.

Applicant Hope Jackson said she had nothing to add to the submitted materials. A staff member (Karen) asked Jackson whether she understood the requirements for a Type 1 home occupation and whether she agreed with the applicable ordinance provisions; Jackson affirmed she did. The staff member told Jackson she would receive the planning department’s decision letter within 24 to 48 hours.

No members of the public spoke in support of or opposition to the application during the hearing. The public hearing concluded without a recorded vote or on-the-record approval at the meeting; staff indicated the decision would be issued administratively and communicated to the applicant.

The item had limited discussion focused on verifying zoning, overlay district status and the home-occupation classification; no formal motion or council vote was taken during the session. The hearing adjourned after staff closed public comment and confirmed next steps with the applicant.
