The village clerk (during her report) described the legal opinion and said multiple ordinances will need tweaking, naming the police commission, historic preservation commission, beautification commission and Fourth of July commission as being affected; she said planning-and-zoning contains a separate officers section and the zoning provision was adjusted so the village president appoints officers.
The clerk recommended removing the commission-level paragraph that calls for the commission to select a chair and vice chair and instead have the ordinance place appointment authority with the village president. The clerk moved that the village attorney draft ordinances amending the commissions; the motion received a second and passed on a roll-call vote.
The clerk asked the board to authorize drafting for several ordinances so the attorney can prepare consistent language across affected commission bylaws and the zoning ordinance's officer section.
