The Central York School Board on April 14 approved an Apple iPad master lease and a set of personnel, curricular and co‑curricular recommendations, and accepted the treasurer’s report and several routine minutes and fundraisers.
Board members voted to approve the Apple iPad master lease agreement and the proposed funding rates for the Lincoln Benefit Trust Fund for medical, dental, COBRA and self‑pay rates for the 2025–26 plan year. Both items were listed together under executive and finance action items and were adopted by voice vote after brief discussion about device usability.
Why it matters: The master lease will allow the district to deploy iPad devices with cases and keyboards to students; board members discussed whether the device configuration would be suitable for longer writing assignments at the middle‑ and high‑school levels. Director Walker said she had “spent a little bit more time with what we are proposing buying” and that the devices “seemed reasonably comfortable for that task,” alleviating one of her main concerns about whether students could use the devices for extended writing.
Most of the district’s other agenda items were bundled and approved as recommended. Under education action items the board approved a dual enrollment agreement, eight art curriculum maps, a list of 2025 summer‑school offerings, authorization to offer educational summer camps, and a field trip request. The board also approved co‑curricular items authorizing athletic summer camps and multiple athletic and nonathletic co‑curricular appointments.
Personnel items approved included conference and workshop approvals for April 2025, a set of resignations and a transfer, summer employment appointments, and a slate of new hires as presented.
The board accepted the treasurer’s report for March. Director McMillan reported account balances (the transcript read a March starting balance as presented and noted investment increases), and said the preliminary budget for next year will come to the board in May.
