Dublin honors two district staff with Golden Shamrock awards

The Dublin City School District presented its Golden Shamrock awards to two staff members during the meeting.
Tom Cochran, principal of Dublin Scioto High School, introduced Sarah D. Benedictis as a Golden Shamrock winner and described her work founding and expanding the Kindness Cafe, a work-study environment that serves students in the school's SLC (student learning community). Cochran said Benedictis started the program as a coffee cart in February 2019, grew it with grant funding and kept it running through the COVID period. "She now manages a fully operational cafe that supports students throughout the day as they learn crucial employability skills," Cochran said.
Erica Stone was recognized for eight years as the district's English learner coordinator. A presenter praised Stone's advocacy for multilingual students, parents and EL staff and called her leadership "defined by her empathy, kindness, and intuition." Stone said she will continue in the role as she transitions to Indian Run Elementary next year.
Both award winners thanked colleagues and described the value of working with students. The recognitions were ceremonial; no board action was required.
