Dublin City Schools recommended and the board approved several operations items, including a one-year renewal of the food-service contract with Aramark, engineering and roof-assessment work from Mays, and a preventive-maintenance renewal for the district HVAC contractor.
Operations Director Stark told the board the Aramark renewal includes a $276,000 subsidy to maintain current meal-service levels amid rising food prices. He said the district has held prices down for several years and that the subsidy is lower than a previous vendor’s subsidy.
On roofing, Stark said Mays — a consulting and engineering firm the district has used to review warranties and design roofing replacements — is being recommended to design new roofs and produce bidding documents for several schools. He described multiple roofs from the early 2000s that are approaching replacement and said Mays’ assessments for Thomas and Wright elementary schools could lead to additional bids next year.
Stark recommended renewing preventive-maintenance HVAC services with Spare Mechanical (the transcript referenced “Spare/Spirit/Spare”), citing the company’s capacity to handle 23 buildings and 24/7 needs; the renewal was described as approximately $171,000 for the preventative-maintenance work.
The board approved items 11a–11d by roll call (motion moved by Mr. Valentine; second by Mrs. Messick).
