Board keeps district health plan with Dean after staff feedback

The Waunakee Community School District board approved the insurance committee’s recommendation to remain with Dean for the district health insurance renewal, after staff feedback favored staying with Dean despite higher employee premium contributions.
The insurance committee compared Dean and GHC and solicited staff input; staff feedback from the Waunakee Teachers Association was reported as roughly four‑to‑one in favor of remaining with Dean even though the decision will require higher monthly contributions for employees under that plan. The committee chair reported the district would pay comparable increases under either vendor; the primary difference was staff preference and familiarity with the Dean plans, especially the high‑deductible HSA option.
Board members moved and seconded the recommendation and approved it by voice vote. District staff confirmed that other voluntary insurance products carried by employees (not medical) will see no rate changes and that the district will continue to monitor plan performance and costs.
