The Norwalk Arts & Culture Commission voted to move forward with a contracted consultant to produce an arts and cultural plan and announced the selection of Cultural Planning Group.
Commission staff said the firm was chosen for its cultural-planning expertise and noted that one of the project managers speaks Spanish, which staff said will help broaden outreach. "One of the project managers speaks Spanish. So she'll be working on the project. She'll be doing the community outreach so we can get more of a diverse impact on our results," Sabrina said.
Staff said the contract is signed and the consultant's fee has been escrowed, and that the firm will conduct a deep dive focused on the commission’s district (the urban core) while offering recommendations that could apply citywide. Staff plans to meet the firm to define committee membership, outreach methods and timelines and expects many commissioners to participate in focus groups or review committees.
The commission did not set specific timelines for deliverables during the meeting; staff said the item will become a more regular agenda item once work begins.
