The Whitefish City Council on Monday adopted Ordinance 25‑4 to rezone parcels commonly known as the old hospital site, removing an expired planned unit development overlay and reverting the properties to WB‑2 (secondary business) zoning.
City staff said the rezone was initiated by the city and found to comply with applicable criteria and the growth policy. Notices were mailed to adjacent property owners and a legal notice published; the Community Development Board and staff recommended approval.
Councilor Steve moved to approve the ordinance; Councilor Fury seconded. Council members offered brief personal comments about the site's history and the desire to see redevelopment proceed. The motion carried unanimously.
