Deputy director Luis Sayalen described renovations funded with grant dollars — new windows, doors, gutters and added air conditioning — and said the task force has used grants to upgrade the interior and build capacity. Sayalen said vehicle needs prompted a proposed trade‑in: two older units in exchange for a 2021 Bronco Sport and a planned Dodge Durango better suited to task force operations.
Sayalen told the council the task force collaborates with Will, Kankakee and Grundy counties and several municipal police departments, assists local departments on vehicle theft cases and has distributed anti‑theft steering‑wheel clubs to the community.
