Wickliffe council adopts multiple ordinances, resolutions and affirms planning appointment

Wickliffe City Council on April 14 adopted a series of ordinances and resolutions on third reading, approved updates to local administrative chapters, and reaffirmed a mayoral Planning Commission appointment.
The council passed ordinances authorizing liability insurance coverage with the Ohio Plan agent (Ordinance 2025-14), several budget transfer and purchase measures (including Ordinances 2025-17, 2025-18, 2025-20, 2025-21), and an emergency agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation for road salt (Ordinance 2025-19). Council also began first reading on a zoning map amendment (Ordinance 2025-22).
On resolutions, the council adopted a measure recognizing the city’s duty to affirmatively further fair housing (Resolution 2025-05) and approved applications and authorizations to pursue Lake County competitive Community Development Block Grant funding (Resolutions 2025-06 and 2025-07).
Councilors voted to authorize the Law Director to revise two sections of the codified ordinances: to add required language for all city buildings in Chapter 13.03.7, and to modify Chapter 13.41 so the zoning fee deposit for rezoning requests changes from $250 to a $1,500 deposit. Both items were placed on the floor and approved by roll call.
The council also reaffirmed the mayor’s appointment of Michael Fishwick to fill an unexpired term on the Planning Commission, with the term to expire Dec. 31, 2025; the reaffirmation was approved by roll call.
Several items were referred to committee for additional review, including a commercial CRA request from Stanley Steemer, a residential CRA for Old School Way, proposed municipal services agreement (CT Consultants/Verdantas) contract renewal, ladder-truck financing, and discussion of cannabis tax revenue. The finance committee meeting was scheduled for April 21 to address some of these items.
