During the public-expression portion of the April 14 meeting, a resident asked the board to revisit its anti-bullying policies and consider increased camera coverage to help resource officers and administrators respond to incidents.
The speaker, Teresa McFarland, told the board that parents and grandparents had contacted her about continuing issues and said: "We shouldn't have teachers scared to be in a classroom, and we shouldn't have students worried about their learning because they're worried about their safety." She suggested the policy could be "tweaked" and proposed cameras in school buildings (noting public viewing would not be allowed) and possibly body cameras for resource officers or staff as tools to protect students and staff and to improve investigations.
Chair Josh Crisp and board members thanked the speaker for her comments. Board policy restricts responses during public comment and the transcript shows no immediate board action; the speaker's request was recorded for future consideration under board policy.
