Following a closed session on April 14, the Gaston County Board of Education returned to open session and approved multiple principal contract extensions unanimously.
Superintendent Dr. Houchard recommended contract extensions and the board recorded unanimous votes to extend: a four-year contract for Nikisha Glenn; a one-year principal contract for Melissa Nick; a two-year contract for Stephanie Gust; and a two-year contract for Sierra Jennings. Each motion was moved and seconded before the board voted "That's unanimous."
After the contract votes, the superintendent announced placements and transfers: Nikisha Glenn to Catawba Heights; Melissa Nick to Tryon Elementary School; Stephanie Gust to North Belmont Elementary School; Sierra Jennings to Brookside Elementary School. The superintendent then listed five additional principal transfers: Stacy Bradley to York Chester Middle School; Christy Gornto to Chavis Middle School; Mitch Allen to Cherryville High School; Miriam Harvey to Chapel Grove Elementary; and Lorinda Brussey to Costner Elementary School.
The transcript records unanimous board votes for the contract extensions; the superintendent presented the subsequent placements and transfers as administrative decisions announced to the board. No additional board vote on the transfers was recorded in open session.
