Emilio Lovato, director of community development, briefed the Parks and Recreation Commission on several park and library site improvements and next steps. Lovato said staff is evaluating two shade-structure scenarios for the library — a staff-built fabric-style shade using public-works labor and a contractor-built metal-panel awning — and that the library staff favors fabric shades for heat and comfort concerns. “I don't think having a metal awning over that outdoor area will be conducive to their needs in terms of heat and things like that,” Lovato said.
