SBA outlines disaster loan programs and deadlines at Perry council meeting

Evans said the SBA’s Office of Disaster Recovery administers physical disaster loans for property damage, economic injury disaster loans for businesses and information for homeowners and renters. "Disasters are devastating. They're unexpected. They just don't leave behind damaged buildings and flood the streets. They also leave behind uncertainty," Evans said while urging affected residents and businesses to seek information.
Evans said she had a limited number of handouts and offered to leave material with the city manager for broader distribution. She stated the deadline for physical-damage loans runs through April 2025, and the economic-injury loan deadline is in June 2025.
Councilmembers asked whether the assistance comes only as loans and whether nonprofits and homeowners are eligible. Evans confirmed the programs are loan-based and that businesses, homeowners and nonprofits can qualify depending on circumstances. She also provided a contact phone number and the SBA website for more information.
The council did not take action; Evans left materials with the city manager for staff distribution.
