The board approved the consent agenda on a motion by Mr. Smith and a second by Mr. Appleby; the presiding officer reported the vote was unanimous. The consent agenda included routine business items listed in the board packet (details in district records).
The board also approved TASB policy update 124 after a brief staff summary of the legal and local policy changes. Dr. Brown described the main local changes as clarifications on intellectual property (student work vs. employee-created curriculum), expanded language on nicotine and tobacco alternatives in employee conduct, and clarifications aligning the dyslexia handbook with ARD requirements. The district will also prohibit electronic vaporizing devices on school property under the updated community relations language, Dr. Brown said.
Trustee Appleby moved to adopt the TASB policy update 124; the motion carried by a unanimous vote as reported by the chair. Separate action to authorize a drainage easement for Hundley Drive was discussed and approved earlier in the meeting.
The board also announced upcoming district events including a community “Coffee with First Responders” and the Falcon Family Fair with on-site registration for new and transfer students.
