LAMAR CISD trustees draft vision, mission language; staff to return with alternatives ahead of May 5 vote

Lamar Consolidated Independent School District trustees spent their March 24 special workshop refining draft vision and mission statements and reviewing committee-developed strategic priorities and core values, then directed staff to prepare alternative, tightened options for the full board’s consideration before the board votes on the strategic plan May 5.

The meeting was facilitated by Kent Scribner of JG Consulting, who led trustees through community feedback themes and the committee’s five proposed strategic priorities. “Vision and mission are crucial for any organization because they provide direction, purpose, and a sense of identity,” Scribner said as the board began shaping next-step language. Trustees repeatedly returned to the committee’s themes — innovative education, community-centered growth, academic and extracurricular excellence, and equitable opportunity — while discussing a short, punchy vision and a concise mission that would drive later goals and action plans.
