Muskego council holds public hearing on Oak Ridge Glen rezoning request

The Muskego Common Council on March 25 held a public hearing on a petition from developer Daryl Borchard to rezone three lots in the Oak Ridge Glen subdivision from RM2 (multi-family residence district) to RS2 (suburban residence district), a change that would allow conversion of those lots to single-family homes.

City staff member Adam told the council the three lots are part of an area originally planned for multifamily housing at the east side of the subdivision. Two lots previously were rezoned last fall after the developer reported market interest from single-family buyers; the current petition seeks rezoning of three additional lots, including one adjacent to the two previously rezoned lots and two at the southern end of a cul-de-sac adjacent to existing single-family homes.

The petition lists tax key numbers 2172070 Lot 40, 2172076 Lot 76, and 2172077 Lot 77. Adam said other multifamily-planned lots remain in the development and estimated—"I think the number is, like, 9"—that roughly nine such lots remain, but he said he would confirm that number. Alderperson Wolf asked whether other multifamily lots remain; staff said they do and that further rezoning requests could come in the future.

No members of the public spoke during the hearing. After questions and discussion, the mayor closed the public hearing. The council then read Ordinance 14-94 (zoning map amendment RM2 to RS2 for Oak Ridge Glen) for the first time; council members asked staff to provide any additional information needed before a second reading.

The record shows the public hearing was closed with no public comment and that the ordinance remained at first-reading at the March 25 meeting.
