Arroyo Grande council adopts CPI, transportation and solar permit fee updates

The Arroyo Grande City Council voted unanimously to update user fees across several categories, including an annual adjustment tied to the Consumer Price Index, transportation permits for overweight/oversize vehicles and fees for solar permits.
Brian Pedrati, the city's community development director, explained the update is threefold: apply the CPI adjustment (3.3% for the Los Angeles region in January 2025) as previously directed by council; align the city's transportation permit fees with the Department of Transportation; and set solar permit fees to conform to limits in the California Government Code.
Nicole Valentine confirmed the council may change the enabling resolution in the future so fees could increase automatically without requiring annual council action if council directs staff to prepare such language. Councilmember Marviglia moved to adopt the resolution and the council approved it on roll call.
