Staff noted the line could be reduced or returned to the commission if the city chose not to proceed with litigation, and that funds would be used only if necessary.
No binding budget amendment was adopted at the workshop. Commissioners asked staff to include a place‑holder number for discussion in the draft budget; staff indicated they will propose specific language and recommended caps for the commission to consider in formal budget hearings.
