Committee recommends appointments to Williamsport Municipal Water and RVTA boards

Councilwoman Bonnie Katz opened the Public Works Committee on March 25 and the mayor introduced two recommended appointments to outside authorities.

The mayor recommended Kenneth Healy for the Williamsport Municipal Water and Sanitary Authority. Councilman Randall Allison thanked Healy for volunteering and said the water authority has “increasingly gotten more and more important,” praising Healy’s industry experience. Healy told the committee he deals with the water authority through his company and said serving on the board would be “a good opportunity” to bring private-sector perspective.

The mayor also recommended a local business owner, identified in the meeting as Nick, for the River Valley Transit Authority (RVTA) board. The mayor said Nick has transportation-related experience, including holding commercial driver licenses, and that he had met with current RVTA leadership. Committee members expressed support; Councilman Vince Polizzi said he has known Nick for many years and welcomed his willingness to serve.

No formal committee vote on either appointment was recorded in the meeting transcript; the mayor said he had forwarded credentials for Healy to city council and the recommendations will be considered by the full council at a later meeting.
