The Fall River City Board of Health on March 25 appointed Catherine Cabral as a regional health agent to serve Fall River and its collaborative shared-service communities.
Board members said Cabral, who began roughly two to three weeks ago, will serve as a regional inspector for Fall River and partner communities in the shared-service agreement, including Seekonk, Swansea and Somerset. Tess Curran introduced Cabral and said she is completing required trainings through the Train MA portal and will be registered for upcoming in-person trainings as needed.
Cabral told the board she has prior experience working with housing authorities and in elder protective services, citing work alongside the Fairhaven and Mansfield housing authorities and as a protective worker for Bristol Elder Services. Board members asked about the scope of her inspections; Curran said Cabral will be trained to handle “food, minimum housing, sanitation, pools, tattoos” and other environmental health responsibilities.
A motion to appoint Cabral was moved and seconded; a roll call recorded Thomas Corey and Michael Coughlin voting yes, and the board approved the appointment.
Cabral received congratulations from the board at the close of the item.
