Council approves $73,250 engineering agreement to request FEMA map revision for Agora Park

The Corinth City Council on March 20 approved a professional engineering services agreement, not to exceed $73,250, to prepare and submit a Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) to FEMA for the Agora Park transit-oriented district and related properties.
Glenn Barker, the city's public works director, told the council the work is intended "to take the flood plain so that it becomes buildable" for areas including Agora Park and nearby properties. Barker said a successful LOMR would remove those areas from the FEMA floodplain and could reduce or eliminate the need for flood insurance on affected parcels.
The agreement authorizes the city manager to execute necessary documents. A councilmember moved to approve the engineering services agreement for $73,250; another councilmember seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The contract will fund the engineering study and the LOMR submission to FEMA; final removal from the floodplain requires FEMA's approval of the map revision. The council did not attach additional conditions to the award during the meeting.
