The City of Montgomery City Council voted March 25 to amend its agreement with Taylor Morrison—the developer of the Lone Star Ridge subdivision—to include retaining walls and authorized the mayor to sign the amended agreement.
Council discussed drainage impacts of adding the walls. One council member asked whether the drainage plan had been adjusted to account for the walls; a developer or project representative said the drainage plan had been amended, including enlargement of a detention area at the rear of the site and off‑site drainage accommodations to make sure runoff flows through the system.
Council questioned who would own and maintain the walls and any associated drainage infrastructure. Staff and the developer indicated that while the developer would construct the walls and the homeowner association (POA) would ultimately own or maintain some elements, streets and public ditches remain public and could affect city drainage responsibilities. A council member said, “Our topography is much much more than it is here generally. So that's something I'm [concerned about] and if we don't do our drainage correctly, we'll have — we can have it last quick.”
A motion by Council member Casey, seconded by Carol, to accept the amendment passed. Council recorded the motion as carried and authorized the mayor to sign the agreement. Council directed staff to ensure drainage and long‑term maintenance responsibilities are clear in final documents.
