Camp Kesem at WVU asks the Board to help spread word about free summer camp for kids affected by parental cancer

Hannah Weeks, outreach coordinator for Camp Kesem at West Virginia University, used public comment time March 25 to ask the Board and the community to share information about a free weeklong summer camp for children ages 6–18 whose parents have been affected by cancer.
"It's a completely free summer camp," Weeks said. "Our biggest focus is letting them . . . have some time to take away the stress of what they deal with at home and just get to experience being a kid." She said Camp Kesem serves campers across West Virginia and some from nearby Pennsylvania and that the program is student‑led at WVU.
Weeks said the camp groups children by grade/age into cabins, that the program runs annually, and that organizers still had openings and pamphlets available for distribution.
Ending: Weeks left pamphlets for the district to distribute and asked the Board to help promote the camp in district communications; the Board did not take action on the request.
