Trustees award hydrant painting and village leak detection contracts to Ferguson Waterworks

Staff explained the hydrant-painting contract funds repainting faded or hard-to-see hydrants so fire departments can locate and connect to them. The leak-detection work is scheduled after exercising hydrants to identify valves or mains that do not seat properly or have leaks; staff said technicians listen at every hydrant and then trace leaks downstream if necessary.
Three proposals were solicited for both projects. Staff recommended Ferguson as the lowest qualified bidder; one past contractor had scheduling problems in prior years. Trustees moved and seconded the awards and approved them by voice vote.
