A motion to approve the special-event application for Ice Age Habitat Restoration (listed in the record as "January 20 fourth to the 20 fifth and 25") with fees waived was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote.
The board also approved the Hometown Celebration special-event application for late June 2025 and granted a request for music on Thursday, June 26 until 11 p.m. Trustees noted the event will include a carnival and bands; the meeting referenced several expense items staff provided for board awareness, including fireworks priced at $19,000, a board award item listed at $4,500 (due March 15), and a listed area rental amount of $4,095. Staff said the overall expenses are similar to prior years with possible increases in some line items.
A motion to approve the Hometown Celebration expenditures for 2025 passed by voice vote. The board emphasized the Park Board had vetted the fee waiver and that staff would pursue any required ordinance changes for timeline clarifications on permit submissions.
