Council recommends naming ambulance building for Chuck Mills

Speakers at the council meeting recounted Mills’s decades of service: organizing and expanding ambulance services in the area, introducing community emergency-response training (CERT), helping establish a helipad at the hospital, training first responders and obtaining state and federal grants for emergency equipment and disaster aid. Aldermen described Mills as influential in building the local ambulance service from informal beginnings into the current system.
Alderman [motion maker not specified] moved that the council recommend the naming; the motion was seconded and approved unanimously by the aldermen present. Council materials and speakers expressly said the recommendation will be sent to the ambulance board for its consideration and final approval.
