City staff explained the project covers Woodcrest Drive from East Slifer Street to Winnebago Avenue. Utility deficiencies discovered after a 2024 reconstruction required replacement of the water main before resurfacing. MSA Professional Services designed the work and the city solicited bids; Egbert Excavating of Princeton submitted the low combined bid (base plus alternates) of $432,032.50.
Staff recommended awarding the contract to Egbert to include the base scope plus alternates (PVC in lieu of ductile iron and replacement of copper service piping with high-density polyethylene). Funding will come from the city’s 2024 capital improvement budget. Alderson Green moved to approve the contract; Alderson Feeney seconded. The roll call vote recorded was unanimous in favor among members present; the motion passed.
City staff noted five bids were received and that MSA recommended Egbert based on prior work.
