During public comment at the Jan. 8 Emerald Park Landfill Standing Committee meeting, a neighbor raised concerns about lights from the landfill shining onto 8 Mile Road and nearby homes.
The resident said the lights are “on all night” and that they “shine right in the house,” adding, “It's like free security lighting for them…half a mile.” A committee member replied that staff “can certainly look into that.”
The committee did not take formal action at the meeting; staff said they would investigate lighting orientation and operation and report back as part of routine follow up.
