Green City Council on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, elected Councilman Jeff Noble as council president, named Justin Spade vice president and adopted the council’s rules and procedures as amended Feb. 13, 2024, during the city’s annual organization meeting.
Mayor opened the meeting and said the council’s rules and the city charter require annual election of officers. "So this is an unusual meeting. It is exactly the only meeting every year that is started off by the mayor," the mayor said, explaining the process of nominations and roll-call voting.
The nominations for council president were opened and a council member nominated Jeff Noble. After a second and roll-call vote, the council voted to elect Noble. Following the vote, the mayor handed the meeting gavel to President Noble, who then opened nominations for vice president and nominated Justin Spade. Spade was seconded and elected by roll call.
The council then moved to adopt its rules and procedures for 2025, making a motion to adopt the rules amended Feb. 13, 2024. After a second and brief confirmations by members, the motion carried on roll-call votes.
Council members thanked outgoing leadership from the previous year; the mayor and others recognized CJ Mager and another leader referenced in the meeting for their service in the prior year.
The special organization meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn and the council setting its next regular meeting for Tuesday, Jan. 14.
