The Newnan City Council adopted a resolution March 25 to accept the Coweta County 2024 Hazard Mitigation Plan.
Staff described the adoption as a straightforward step needed to maintain eligibility for state and federal hazard-mitigation funding administered through GEMA and FEMA. The presenter said the county plan is high-level and that the city could elect to prepare a Newnan-specific hazard mitigation plan in the future to address local priorities in more detail.
A councilmember asked about a line item referencing electronic signage for the city; staff said they would follow up with details and report back to the council. The resolution passed by voice vote.
