Sharon Durham, coordinator of the Natchitoches Farmers Market, addressed the council on March 24 to announce the market's first 2025 date and community activities.
Durham identified herself on the record and said "I am the coordinator of the Natchitoches Farmers Market, and, we are having our first market April 26." She said UPS was donating oak trees to distribute free at the first market and that Shamard Oaktree donated a certificate presented to council members to be placed at the future Ben Johnson Park when constructed. Durham asked the public to attend and encouraged use of the city's GoNatchitoches app and social media for marketing.
Councilmembers thanked Durham and said the city will post information on its website and social channels. The mayor noted community groups and vendors who have supported the market in prior years and encouraged attendance.
