Hamilton County's attorney presented two real-estate purchase agreements and the Board of Commissioners approved resolutions authorizing the county to begin due diligence on both properties.
The first resolution (3242501) approves a real-estate purchase agreement with the City of Westfield for land needed for a public-safety training project; staff said the city’s Board of Public Works would also adopt the agreement and that the county would perform standard due diligence (phase I environmental, ALTA survey, etc.). County counsel noted the county is currently the buyer in the agreement but the contract allows for assignment to a not-for-profit entity if needed. Counsel said due diligence work could take about 60 days. Commissioners approved the resolution and signed it per standard process.
The second resolution (03242502) approves a purchase agreement to acquire real estate at 130 West Logan Street; counsel said the packet included the purchase agreement and a justification letter and that staff would proceed with due diligence and return to the board for closing if standards are met. Commissioners moved, seconded and recorded unanimous approval for the agreement.
County counsel said the approvals satisfy prior direction from a joint commissioner–council meeting on related bond ordinance steps and that environmental testing is underway in some areas of the larger site; final closing will depend on satisfactory due-diligence results.
