Community Corrections seeks state grant applications; commissioners accept annual report

Kevin Mulroney of Hamilton County Community Corrections told the Board of Commissioners that the Indiana Department of Correction opened its grant application process for calendar year 2026 and that Community Corrections has prepared applications for residential work release and electronic monitoring programs.
Mulroney said the applications were reviewed and recommended by the Community Corrections Advisory Board, and he asked the commissioners to endorse submission of the applications. He told the board that with commissioners’ endorsement the submissions would be stronger; the commissioners moved, seconded and recorded a unanimous vote approving the request to submit the grant applications.
Mulroney also delivered the department's annual report to the board (statute requires submission) and publicly recognized two team leaders, Aaron Lockard and Jason Higbee, for help completing the report. Commissioners moved to accept the annual report; the motion carried unanimously. Commissioners and other attendees offered praise for Community Corrections’ leadership and work during the meeting.
