Elizabethtown council adopts annexation of about 153.9 acres; reappoints airport and civil service board members

The Elizabethtown City Council on Feb. 18 adopted a second-reading ordinance annexing roughly 153.9 acres along Gaither Station Road and South Ring Road and reappointed members to the airport board and the Civil Service Commission.
The ordinance annexes property along Gaither Station Road and South Ring Road, including portions of the right of way of Litchfield Road and Gaither Station Road, and covers land owned by the City of Elizabethtown, Elizabethtown Hardin County Industrial Foundation, Big 4 Star Properties LLC, Arden County government and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. The council said the property will be zoned General Industrial (I-1) and Suburban Residential Limited upon annexation based on the planning commission recommendation. Council members said the property owners gave written consent and the city provided a 45-day notice to Hardin County. The full ordinance text is available from the city clerk.
In a roll-call vote the six council members present voted yes: Council member Bishop, Council member Marshall "Marty" Fulkerson, Council member Isaacs, Council member Jones, Council member Julius Springsteen and Council member Tyler. The mayor/presiding official announced the motion carried.
The council also approved municipal orders reappointing John Clemens and Eddie Burgess to the airport board for terms ending March 5, 2029, and reappointing Edna Berger and Jamie Armstrong to the Civil Service Commission for terms expiring March 2, 2028. Those reappointments were adopted by motion and voice vote; the record shows the motions were seconded and approved.
