Planning commission leaves Harps grocery-and-fuel hearing open, tables decision to next month

The Sherwood Planning Commission on Feb. 11 opened the public hearing on a conditional‑use permit for a proposed Harps grocery store and fueling station on a 4.74‑acre property at the intersection of Highway 107 and Oakdale Road, then voted to continue the hearing to next month at the applicant's request.

Staff told the commission the applicant had asked to table the item to make further revisions and requested the commission keep the public hearing open so the applicant may return. The planning secretary read three emailed comments in support: Jennifer Nichols wrote that as a Sherwood resident she “wholeheartedly support[s] a conditional use permit” for a Harps at the Oakdale/107 intersection; Sharon O’Neil wrote simply that “we need a Harps in Sherwood;” and Steven Angler said a Harps would benefit residents on the north side and could draw revenue from neighboring communities.

Because the item was advertised, the commission opened the hearing before acting. Commissioners then approved a motion to table the item until next month so the applicant can revise the submission; the motion passed by roll call.

The commission took no final action on the conditional‑use permit itself; the hearing remains open and the applicant is expected to return with revised materials next month.
