ADOT district engineer outlines I‑11/I‑40 projects affecting Kingman

Arizona Department of Transportation District Engineer Anthony Brosic told the Kingman City Council that multiple projects affecting Kingman are underway or in planning, and he summarized construction, preservation and future expansion work along I‑40, US‑93 and nearby corridors.

"We technically don't have any I‑eleven projects yet, alignment is coming," Brosic said, explaining that many ADOT projects are preparatory phases and local interchanges tied to the future I‑11 alignment. He described active work at the West Kingman traffic interchange (TI) and a set of projects along US‑93, including the Cane Springs widening project and preservation work between Kingman and Wickenburg.

Brosic updated the council on the Andy Devine bridge work on I‑40 in Kingman, saying crews will pour the bridge deck and stage traffic shifts; the pour will happen at night and traffic will be re-flopped once cured. He also described a tunnel‑like box culvert under construction on northbound US‑93 as part of the realignment and widening efforts.

When asked whether the West Kingman TI bypass would reduce traffic at the Beale Street exit, Brosic said he did not have traffic counts at the meeting and could not provide a numerical estimate. He said the design includes off‑ramps to maintain business access from Beale Street.

Timeline and coordination: Brosic said some preservation bids are already advertised with bid openings expected next month and that larger widening projects are targeted in later fiscal years (one preservation project mentioned for FY27). He said ADOT is coordinating multiple overlapping projects to avoid winter shutdowns and minimize traffic disruption.

Council members thanked ADOT for local improvements; several noted recent work between Kingman and Lake Havasu as an example of improved safety and pavement condition.
