Commissioners authorize acceptance of state-procured UTV for emergency response

Columbia County commissioners on Feb. 5 voted to accept a state-procured utility terrain vehicle (UTV) and authorized the chair to sign the related paperwork (contract C10-2025). Chip Dryden, Columbia County emergency management coordinator, told the board the state will handle specification and purchasing under grant SP25-021 and that the vehicle budget is about $110,000.
"It's about a hundred and $10,000," Dryden said, describing a rig that will be equipped with tracks and multiple capabilities for search-and-rescue and other responses. He said the vehicle will be available to county departments and could be loaned statewide if another agency needs it.
Dryden said the state asked for a spec layout and will do the procurement; county staff discussed the possibility of local vendors supplying or upfitting the vehicle if the state allows it.
Action required signature: staff confirmed the contract reference as C10-2025 and the board voted to authorize the chair to sign and accept the vehicle. County staff listed an initial follow-up task to coordinate delivery and assignment once the vehicle is available.
