Wicomico County Public Schools reported on March 12 that it received four grants in February totaling nearly $12,000 and that it submitted three additional grant applications totaling nearly $160,000.
The February awards included two Maryland Retired School Personnel Association grants of $300 each — one to Bennett Middle School to support a food pantry and one to Lehi Avenue Elementary for a bowling incentive tied to MAP and i-Ready assessment results — and an $800 Salisbury Arts Council award to Fruitland Primary for an artist-in-residence drumming program. The largest award was a $10,442 Title III grant to support differentiated instruction and coaching for multilingual students.
Chief grant staff noted the three submitted grants totaling nearly $160,000 will be reported back to the board when outcomes are known.
