The Wicomico County Board of Education voted March 12 to finalize the 2024–25 school calendar and to adopt draft A for the 2025–26 school year.
On the superintendent's recommendation and after the district received an approved waiver, the board set the last day of the 2024–25 school year as June 13. The motion passed by roll call with all members present voting aye.
The board then considered two draft calendars for 2025–26 (draft A and draft B). Administration said both drafts had been posted publicly, and the district collected stakeholder input from staff, students, families and community members. The results distributed to board members showed 78.9% of respondents favored the draft with a longer winter break (draft A). Based on that input, the board voted to adopt draft A for 2025–26; the roll-call vote was unanimous.
Board member discussion noted this was the final iteration of the 2024–25 calendar after multiple weather-related changes earlier in the year. The superintendent and board members thanked staff and the community for their patience during the revision process.
Both calendar approvals were taken as formal actions of the board and will be posted publicly on the district website.
