Henderson County Schools honor finance director, students, bus drivers and SROs

The Henderson County Board of Education used its Feb. 17 meeting to recognize staff, students and community partners.
Cindy Clotier, the district's director of finance, received the Goldenrod Outstanding School Business Official award from the Kentucky Association of School Business Officials. David Stokes, identified in the meeting as chief financial officer for McLean County and as the OSBO selection committee chair, presented the award and noted multiple nominations from state and district peers. Clotier was described as widely respected by other finance officers and state officials; she will attend the Southeastern Association of School Business Officials conference as the award's guest, the presenter said. Clotier addressed the board and thanked staff and her finance team for their support.
The board also recognized several student honorees: student ambassadors who led the Pledge of Allegiance and a list of Judge's Scholar awardees including John Murray (North Middle School), PJ Britt (Jefferson Elementary), and AB Chandler Elementary students Heaven Hertz and Tracy Taves, who won a statewide stock-market game competition. Each student was brought forward and photographed with district leaders; brief remarks from students and principals were recorded in the minutes.
Transportation staff and bus driver Brian Vandiver were spotlighted during "Love Your Bus" month; members thanked the transportation team for keeping routes running during winter conditions, and Vandiver received a recognition for his long service.
The board also recognized the district's school resource officers (SROs) and representatives from the Henderson Police Department and the sheriff's office for their partnership on campus safety. Present SROs named in the meeting included Rick Lawrence (AB Chandler), Marty Wilson (Cairo), John Book (Niagara), Alan Schrecker (Henderson County High School), Todd Seibert (Central Academy) and Ricky Hammers (South Middle). Doctor Lawson and others praised the SRO program as an investment in student safety and community relationships; several officers made short remarks about their work and experience with students.
These recognitions were presented by district staff and passed without formal board action.
