District staff presented three policy updates for discussion. Two are reciprocal policies โ one for students and one for staff โ that revise a timeframe from 90 days after a student's departure or graduation to one year.
Board members asked why the change was made; staff said the revision better aligns policy timing with related misconduct and investigation windows. The board did not take action at the meeting but discussed the change and its implications for disciplinary timelines.
A third policy update aligns district language with recent Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) rules governing educator conduct, investigations and license suspension or revocation. Staff described the update as clarifying TSPC's procedures and referencing the applicable Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR) language that governs TSPC investigations.
Board members had no substantive objection and did not move to adopt or amend the policies at the session. Staff will return the proposed policy language to the board for formal consideration at a later meeting.
