Sandy Belson, comprehensive planning manager, briefed the council on a prior work session in which three applicants were interviewed to fill a vacant planning commission seat (following Commissioner Rhodes’ resignation). One applicant withdrew after interviews. Belson asked the council for direction on appointment.
Councilor Stout moved to reopen recruitment for the open planning commission position so the council could consider additional candidates; the motion was seconded. The roll call vote recorded: Councilor Weber — yes; Councilor Moe — no; Councilor Bradley — no; Councilor Blackwell — yes; Councilor Doyle — abstain; Councilor Stout — yes. The motion passed (4 yeses, 2 noes). Belson said the city will run a new recruitment and bring a refreshed candidate pool back to council.
