Board hears proposal for high-school tech-maintenance course to repair district devices

Miss Bagshaw, who spoke about the proposal, said the class would allow students to gain workplace skills, receive instructor supervision and possibly earn course credit; students would work in small groups (two students per hour in the first iteration) repairing devices and supporting the district’s technology needs. Logan, a technology staff member, said the district’s technology department is short-staffed and could benefit from student help with Chromebook repairs that currently create a daily backlog.
Board members supported the idea and asked about enrollment caps; administrators said they expect modest initial enrollment and plan to scale the program if student interest grows. Staff said the proposal will return to the board next month for formal approval.
